About WE-Fair

On March 12, 2026, Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), together with representatives of the German business community, launched the WE-Fair Skilled Professionals Alliance (“Business and development policy for fair recruitment of skilled professionals”).

The alliance combines public-sector expertise with business know-how to make the recruitment of skilled professionals transparent, fair, and sustainable. The goal is to view labor migration not merely as a response to workforce shortages, but as an opportunity for everyone involved: businesses that rely on qualified staff, migrants who gain new prospects and safe working conditions, and their countries of origin, which benefit from knowledge transfer and increased economic activity.

Members commit to this goal in a joint statement of intent. The alliance aims to advance this goal through clear standards, practice-oriented education and training, innovative digital and financial solutions, and mutual learning and exchange. The network brings together the full range of stakeholders involved in recruiting skilled professionals: businesses, chambers of commerce and skilled trades, associations, labor unions, education and language training providers, and diaspora organizations.
